My late friend, ~LadySpace, had a keyhole tattooed over her heart. She was my best friend as a kid, and almost our whole friendship revolved around our fantasy adventures we'd act out in the woods behind my house. She meant the world to me, like a big sister who knew me better than anyone else.
She passed in 2009. All of her friends got keys tattooed over their hearts in a style that expressed their relationship with her. Seeing this made me freeze and analyze every little bit of it. It just screams her style, and the leaves and branches are so true to the nature we bound ourselves to. She loved celtic imagery, being of Irish and Scottish descent, and this piece seems to have a bit of that flavor, too. Your piece is magnificently beautiful, stunning, and entirely heart-wrenching to me. I hope you don't mind if I use it as an inspiration for my tattoo.
Thank you very much for the comment about your friend, it's very touching to hear. I know how it is to lose someone. Celtic and nature are huge influences on our jewelry, and you're more than welcome to use it for inspiration on a tattoo
